I love the cornrows. Mine always seem to get ahead of themselves. My braids are not where I am picking up hair so in the end my cornrows look like they have a long tail because the braiding ends but I have picked up so much hair that it is pulled up from the bottom. Any suggestions.

I really like your blog

I can't quite understand from your description what is going wrong in the braids. Which is an example of how braids are something best shown in person rather than explained in text. See if you can't find someone local who can show you how to do a simple french braid on whatever texture of hair you're used to working with. Once you get good at that, try making a few small ones or braiding a different texture hair, or changing it it to a cornrow style braid. You just need practice. I've been really into hair and braiding my whole life, and it took me quite a few tries to get braids on Niblet that I was happy with.

I won't try to explain in detail how to do a braid, but I will say that I add in very very tiny pieces of hair at each link in the braid. Niblet has very thin hair, and for another child the pieces might very well be thicker. But experiment with how much you pick up at each link and see if you can't get the braid and hair to come out even.

I'd even suggest getting a doll with a big enough head that you can practice. It can be very unrealistic hair, but if it's long enough and there's enough of it, you can at least practice a simple french braid or cornrow without making anyone sit still for you. :)

Good luck! Don't give up!
